Megawatt-Class Hydrogen Mining Truck! SHPT Energizes European Mining Operations with Powerful Green Drive
Author:
Recently, SHPT's fuel cell systems were shipped from Shanghai to overseas customers, destined for application in a European megawatt-class hydrogen mining truck project. Tailored to the technical requirements of the mining trucks, including tonnage, power output, and motor specifications, SHPT provided the customer with a systematic technical solution, accurately addressing the mining industry's demand for green and low-carbon transformation in operations.

This milestone marks not only a new breakthrough for SHPT in the overseas market but also holds significant importance for the application and deepening of fuel cell technology in the construction machinery sector. Compared to traditional fuel-powered mining trucks, hydrogen mining trucks achieve zero carbon emissions and low noise during operation, drastically reducing air pollution in mining areas while cutting resource consumption. This drives the transformation of mining operations from a "high-carbon emission model" to a "green and efficient" one.
In contrast to pure electric mining trucks, the higher energy density of fuel cells enables heavy-duty mining trucks to achieve longer driving ranges. Additionally, their excellent low-temperature performance effectively mitigates the key pain point of rapid power battery degradation in extremely cold regions.
More importantly, the advantage of "fast refueling" optimizes the operational rhythm and overall cost structure of mining sites. Therefore, fuel cells represent a superior choice for the electrification of mining trucks.
Affected by the complex environment, variable terrain, and high-intensity operations of mining areas, heavy-duty mining trucks impose more stringent requirements on product reliability and safety.
In terms of product solutions, the fuel cell system supplied by SHPT for this project boasts a single-set rated power of 260kW and a rated efficiency of 46.5%. It can achieve a cold start at -30℃ without external heating support within 30 seconds, featuring high efficiency, reliability, and long service life. Scalable to megawatt-class power based on mining truck tonnage, the system employs intelligent fuel cell control algorithms and accurate monitoring of stack status throughout the entire life cycle to ensure high availability and uptime of hydrogen mining trucks, providing stable and reliable transportation support for mining operations.
In terms of vehicle integration, SHPT has completed matching development and field validation for over 50 vehicle models, covering passenger cars, buses, light-to-heavy-duty trucks, sanitation vehicles, and heavy-duty tractors/dump trucks. Furthermore, the company has jointly developed validated, and tested a 110-ton hydrogen mining truck prototype with domestic partners, fully verifying the adaptability of its products to heavy-duty mining trucks.
To support the overseas customer, SHPT customized a one-week offline training program comprising four core modules: product composition, installation, testing, and after-sales service. The training covered the latest technologies and processes, including bench testing, inspection tool operation, vehicle matching solutions, system maintenance, hydrogen safety, and fault diagnosis and handling, earning high recognition from the overseas customer.
It is understood that the European megawatt-class hydrogen mining truck project will subsequently be used for transporting metallurgical slag, sludge, and other materials in mining areas. According to calculations by the overseas customer, hydrogen mining trucks offer significant economic advantages over traditional fuel-powered models, reducing the long-term operational costs of mining sites. The advancement of this project will help explore a sustainable and replicable green model for mining operations in terms of energy costs, safety assurance, production rhythm, and emission reduction pathways.
