SCZONE , UNIDO Launch National Clean Hydrogen Program in Egypt

The General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, in cooperation with the United Nations for Industrial Development (UNIDO), announced the launch of the Clean Hydrogen National Program - Egypt, aimed at accelerating Egypt's transformation towards a competitive green hydrogen-based economy.
The program is set to contribute to the implementation of an integrated package of activities aimed at strengthening Egypt's readiness for green hydrogen investments, including the preparation of pre-ferential studies and performance studies for priority projects, providing technical support and support in policy preparation, as well as strengthening institutional and national capabilities, in addition to supporting the establishment of a Center of Excellence For green hydrogen at the economic headquarters of the Suez Canal in the heat.
The program comes under the framework of the Global Clean Hydrogen Program implemented by UNIDO, funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), which includes 10 countries, and Egypt plays a key role in it.
The program is being implemented through an integrated institutional partnership framework involving a number of national and international energy and industrial development sectors, where a steering committee to supervise the implementation has been formed including representatives from the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, UNIDO as the executing party, and the Ministry of the Environment as the national point of contact for the facility The Global Environment, the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, and the Ministry of Industry, in coordination with the Supreme Council for Green Hydrogen, will ensure that the effective institutional coordination is achieved and follow-up the implementation of the program activities in accordance with the country's priorities.
