Currently, the global hydrogen and fuel cell industry is growing rapidly, yet it also has practical challenges such as cost and infrastructure issues. As a company specializing in application solutions for hydrogen and fuel cell systems, how does Wenjing Energy advance large-scale adoption? Today, we are honored to invite our Mr.Cai, our General Manager, to provide a detailed explanation.

Hello everyone! I am Cai Jun, General Manager of Shanghai Wenjing Energy. Today, I would like to share with you how Wenjing Energy is pragmatically advancing the large-scale application of fuel cells and electrolyzers, in light of current hydrogen energy industry trends.

Currently, the global fuel cell vehicle industry is experiencing rapid growth, with a global valuation of approximately $3.05 billion in 2025 and projected to reach $19.8 billion by 2032. Hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles, green hydrogen investments, electrolyzer construction,and etc. maintain a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) exceeding 30%.

It was against this backdrop that Shanghai Wenjing Energy clearly defines its positioning and directions.

Wenjing Energy is a Shanghai-based company founded in 2022, we were incubated from Fuel Cell Institute of Shanghai Jiaotong University, a top university in China. Wenjing specializes in fuel cell systems and comprehensive hydrogen energy solutions, possessing full-stack independent R&D and manufacturing capabilities spanning bipolar plates, fuel cell stacks, systems, and electrolyzers. The company has implemented hydrogen energy demonstration applications in the city of Shuozhou, Shanxi Province in China, achieving a closed-loop ecosystem from green hydrogen production to hydrogen storage, transpotation and untimately to fuel cell utilization.

Our product portfolio is well-defined:
The fuel cell system is applicable to various scenarios including two-wheeled vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, stationary power generation, and drones. With a maximum power output of up to 250 kW, the equipment has been delivered in North America, South America, Europe, and other regions.
On the hydrogen production side, a dual-drive system combining PEM and AEM technologies is employed. The PEM module is designed for large-scale hydrogen production, with output capacities ranging from 1 to 250 Nm³/h, and can be modularly integrated.
AEM employs non-presions metal catalysts to reduce costs, with hydrogen production ranging from 1 to 50 Nm³/h.
Cai:
Technically, we have focused closely on two key objectives: enhancing performance and reducing costs. We have achieved reliable startup at-35°C, with a service life sufficient for the entire lifecycle of heavy-duty trucks. Simultaneously, we are vigorously advancing the domestic production of core components and adopting a platform-based design approach to reduce costs and improve efficiency, resulting in more stable and cost-effective products.

Currently, our market focus is on three core areas:
Cai:
First,Fuel cell systems for long-distance heavy-duty trucks. In some northern regions of China, hydrogen prices can be as low as 15 yuan per kilogram, with today’s technology hydrogen consumption for 49-ton truck can reach as low as 8 kilograms per 100 kilometers, adding on the highway toll free policy for hydrogen vehicles in some provinces in China, resulting in a very low utilization cost for fuel cell vehicles, much lower than diesel truck, and even lower then electric truck.

Second,The global market is witnessing the replacement of grey hydrogen production with green hydrogen production. We export mature green hydrogen technologies—including fuel cells and PEM electrolyzers—to worldwide clients, enabling local communities to substitute high-carbon gray hydrogen with zero-carbon green hydrogen. This initiative supports global energy transition and carbon neutrality goals, while demonstrating the practical effectiveness of Wenjing's technologies in international markets.

Third,A nationwide demonstration support for comprehensive hydrogen energy applications.

Currently, the China pilot cluster project has entered its second phase, with our deep involvement in the development of the national hydrogen energy demonstration cluster. Fuel cell vehicles have been deployed in batches in locations such as Shuozhou, Shanxi, leveraging demonstration projects to large-scale application.
