The facility is intended to further validate Sunfire’s solid oxide electrolysis cell technology and generate additional operational experience for use in large-scale industrial projects.

Located at the BASF site in Schwarzheide, the installation adds Sunfire as a new partner at Industriepark Lausitz. The project is also positioned as part of the site’s continued development and the wider transformation of the Lausitz region.

Sunfire is providing the electrolysis technology, while the industrial park offers infrastructure, available space, and industrial expertise for long-term testing under industrial conditions. The company said the setup is designed to support practical testing at industrial scale.
