  • NIPPON HEV has introduced Pakistan’s first integrated hydrogen mobility platform, combining hydrogen-powered vehicles, motorcycles and advanced battery technologies under a single clean-energy strategy.
  • The initiative includes new partnerships aimed at accelerating hydrogen adoption while supporting cleaner transport, energy security and industrial development across the country.

NIPPON HEV has officially launched what it describes as Pakistan’s first comprehensive hydrogen mobility and advanced battery ecosystem, marking a significant step in the country's transition toward cleaner transportation.

The company unveiled a portfolio that includes hydrogen-powered passenger vehicles, motorcycles and advanced battery technologies while signing strategic cooperation agreements to strengthen the local hydrogen mobility supply chain.

The initiative is designed to reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels, promote low-emission transportation and support the development of a broader clean-energy ecosystem that combines hydrogen technologies with advanced energy storage solutions.

The launch also highlighted collaboration between industry, financial institutions and technology partners to accelerate commercialization of hydrogen mobility in Pakistan.

Inaugurating the launch ceremony, former Federal Minister and renowned business leader SM Munir congratulated NIPPON HEV for bringing world-class Japanese technology to Pakistan.

He said: “Pakistan’s future lies in innovation, clean energy and advanced technology. The introduction of NIPPON HEV’s hydrogen mobility solutions and advanced battery technologies is the need of the hour. Such initiatives will support Pakistan’s efforts to reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels, strengthen the national economy and encourage sustainable industrial development. I congratulate the entire NIPPON HEV team on this historic launch and wish them every success in bringing world-class Japanese technology to Pakistan.”

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Haris Khan, Group COO, NIPPON – Japan, said: “Pakistan is an important market with tremendous potential for clean mobility transformation. Through NIPPON HEV, we are bringing advanced Japanese technology and future-ready mobility solutions that can help reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels and support Pakistan’s transition towards sustainable transport. This is not only the launch of vehicles; it is the beginning of a new direction for Pakistan’s mobility future. We are committed to introducing innovative technologies that combine performance, efficiency and environmental responsibility while contributing to Pakistan’s long-term energy sustainability.”

Captain (R) Aamir Raza Zaidi, CEO, NIPPON – Pakistan, stated: “Today marks a landmark occasion for Pakistan. The introduction of NIPPON HEV’s hydrogen-based vehicles, motorcycles and advanced battery solutions has the potential to transform the country’s transportation landscape. Pakistan spends billions of dollars annually on imported petroleum products, placing significant pressure on our foreign exchange reserves. The adoption of alternative energy technologies is no longer an option—it is a national necessity. NIPPON HEV is committed to providing clean, efficient, affordable and technologically advanced mobility solutions for the people of Pakistan.”

He further added: “Our vision extends beyond selling vehicles. We aim to establish a complete mobility ecosystem where hydrogen technology, advanced batteries, energy storage solutions and future transportation systems work together to create a cleaner, greener and economically stronger Pakistan. We believe this initiative will contribute towards reducing fuel dependency, lowering transportation costs, improving air quality, encouraging technology transfer, generating skilled employment and supporting industrial development across the country.”

The launch also received strong support from Pakistan’s financial sector, reflecting growing confidence in the country’s transition towards clean energy transportation.

Mr. Chaudhary Qaiser Iqbal, Group Head, UBL, said: “UBL is proud to be associated with initiatives that promote innovation, sustainability and national economic development. Clean mobility and alternative energy technologies are essential for Pakistan’s future competitiveness.
