September 4 — Jiangsu Guofu Hydrogen Energy Equipment Co., Ltd. has officially rolled out its new 2,000 Nm³/h alkaline water electrolyzer for hydrogen production.
Chen Xueqian, Deputy Secretary-General of the Hydrogen Industry Branch of the China Industry Development Promotion Association, along with representatives from project partners including China Energy Engineering Group Zhejiang Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd., the Hami Branch of the Institute of Energy, Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center, and Hefei Zhongke Hecheng Green Energy Co., Ltd., attended the launch ceremony.
The equipment will be deployed at the Hami 20,000-ton green-power hydrogen production and flexible green-ammonia demonstration project. It represents another major model in Jiangsu Guofu Hydrogen Energy Equipment Co., Ltd.’s alkaline electrolyzer portfolio, following its 1,250 Nm³/h-class products.
Drawing on the company’s existing technology platform and engineering experience in large-scale green hydrogen equipment, the new 2,000 Nm³/h electrolyzer is designed for large-scale applications.
Its sealing reliability is supported by a dedicated structural design for the sealing surfaces, helping maintain sealing integrity throughout the equipment’s lifecycle. The flow-channel system has been optimized through three-dimensional simulation, improving electrolyte distribution uniformity by more than 30% compared with conventional designs.
Standardized technical procedures have been established for the selection and matching of core components as well as system-integration verification. Multiple rounds of joint optimization and long-duration testing have been conducted to ensure coordinated reliability among components under complex operating conditions.
The electrolyzer is also supported by Guofu Hydrogen Energy’s 2.5 GW intelligent production line and digital quality-control system, with manufacturing and testing capabilities covering the full chain from materials and components to complete units and systems. These capabilities are designed to ensure consistency in volume production and delivery.
At a rated current density of 4,000 A/m², the electrolyzer achieves DC power consumption of no more than 4.2 kWh/Nm³, while its minimum stable operating load can be as low as 20%. More than 8,000 accelerated aging and impact tests have been conducted, with test results indicating that energy consumption increases by less than 10% after 10 years of operation. Annual overall hydrogen production is 8%-10% higher than that of conventional solutions.
The electrolyzer is also designed to support coordinated control strategies for green hydrogen production. Under centralized scheduling by the cluster-control system, multiple electrolyzers can operate in an orderly rotation and achieve balanced load distribution, helping reduce hydrogen storage requirements. Simulation results for the Hami project indicate that the cluster-control strategy could reduce overall plant operating costs by approximately 15%.
Chen Xueqian said that producing large-capacity electrolyzers and producing high-performance large-capacity electrolyzers are two different challenges. He added that Guofu Hydrogen Energy’s new 2,000 Nm³/h model demonstrates leading performance in DC power consumption, wide-range load regulation and smart-manufacturing quality, providing more economical equipment support for the large-scale adoption of green hydrogen in sectors such as chemicals and metallurgy.
The product’s combined advantages in energy efficiency, operational flexibility and quality align with the requirements of large-scale green hydrogen projects for long-term stable operation and cost efficiency throughout the equipment lifecycle.
The company’s volume-delivery capabilities are backed by its 2.5 GW intelligent manufacturing base. The latest product rollout further strengthens Jiangsu Guofu Hydrogen Energy Equipment Co., Ltd.’s portfolio of alkaline hydrogen-production equipment.
