WUXI — Wuxi Lead Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. ("LHI") recently shipped a GW-scale PEM electrolyzer automated assembly line to a major Chinese energy equipment enterprise. The production line has arrived at the client's facility and entered the commissioning phase. Marking China's first automated PEM electrolyzer production line to utilize a wet-coating assembly process, the project progressed from scheme design and process validation to equipment delivery within three months.

Designed to accommodate full-process manufacturing for 100–750 Nm³/h PEM electrolyzers, the line integrates automated warehousing and logistics, incoming inspection, material pre-treatment (including marking, cleaning, cutting, and defect inspection), automated stacking, pressing and tightening, leak testing, electrical control, and data acquisition modules. Upon full operation, annual manufacturing capacity can scale up to 1 GW.

To address automated assembly challenges caused by dimensional and tension variations in proton exchange membranes under wet conditions, LHI engineered an adaptive flexible suction system, dual AI and machine vision positioning, and a closed-loop water-mist closed‑loop control system. Combined with multi-mechanism adsorption and gripping technologies, the system resolves membrane deformation and water-film interference, achieving a membrane gripping success rate and positioning accuracy exceeding 99.5% in testing.

Previously, LHI completed quality‑risk identification and process validation through upfront DOE tests, simulation testing and DFMEA analysis, and achieved end‑to‑end engineering roll‑out of the production line from design and R&D to on‑site delivery.
