Nel Hydrogen US has received a purchase order worth approximately $12 million from Collins Aerospace for proton exchange membrane electrolyzer stacks destined for US Navy submarine life-support systems.
The stacks will generate oxygen for life-support systems aboard US submarines. Deliveries are expected to take place throughout 2027 and 2028, with manufacturing at Nel’s facility in Wallingford, Connecticut.
Todd Cartwright, Chief Commercial Officer of Nel ASA, said: “We are pleased to receive another order from Collins Aerospace. It extends a long-standing cooperation built around reliable oxygen generation for demanding submarine applications.”
Cartwright added: “Our Wallingford team has supplied this specialized application over many years. This order confirms the continued relevance of our PEM technology and manufacturing capabilities.”
The company said the order reflects growing momentum for its technology in defence applications, where reliability, operational resilience, and a long service life are paramount.
