Hy24, a French asset manager and the world’s largest bas-carbon hydrogen and its derivatives, through its dedicated fund “Clean Hydrogen Infrastructure”, has signed with EDF Pulse Ventures, EDF’s venture capital structure1, an agreement to acquire Dynamics, a subsidiary of the EDF Group.
The completion of the transaction could take place in the first quarter of 2027, after lifting the suspensive conditions, including obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals.
Hynamics produces and markets low-carbon 2 hydrogen for the heavy transport and industry sectors through several key projects in France and the UK. This operation opens a new stage in the development of Hynamics, with the ambition to promote the creation of a French and British champion of low-carbon hydrogen.
This transaction is part of EDF Pulse Ventures’ strategy to support the development of its holdings and to promote their transition to a new phase of growth, under the impetus of new shareholders with the means and expertise necessary for their development.
“Since its creation in 2019, EDF has supported the growth of Dynamics and the development of low-carbon hydrogen. The sale of Hynamics’ capital to one of the major players in the development of hydrogen in Europe is an excellent opportunity to accelerate the development of the Hynamics project portfolio. This change of shareholder will allow Hynamics to change the scale thanks to a recognized French player, the first fund dedicated to the development of the hydrogen economy and associated molecules, on a global scale,” said Julien Villeret, Director of Innovation
“With its portfolio of low-carbon hydrogen projects, Hynamics has helped to start a critical sector for the decarbonisation of heavy and transport industry in France and the United Kingdom. To succeed in the transition to scale in Europe, the sector must be able to rely on strong industrial players and financial partners able to structure the financing necessary for its deployment. This agreement illustrates this dynamic of consolidation around the most promising projects, at the service of European energy security,” added Pierre-Etienne Franc, co-founder and CEO of Hy24.
