Promoting international research exchange and next-generation talent development in the fields of hydrogen and fuel cells

The Research Center for the Promotion of Hydrogen Energy Society at Tokyo Metropolitan University has entered into a partnership agreement with the Global Institute for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells (GIHF) and joined GIHF's international network.

GIHF is an independent, non-governmental, non-commercial, and non-profit organization with a global network connecting universities, research institutions, and experts around the world in the field of hydrogen and fuel cells, promoting the sharing of scientific knowledge and data, research and innovation, and human resource development.

In recent years, while research and development and social implementation efforts surrounding hydrogen and fuel cells have progressed worldwide, challenges remain, such as the dispersion of technological goals, research data, and evaluation methods across regions and institutions, as well as the need to further enhance access to the latest scientific knowledge, international collaboration among researchers, and opportunities for human resource development. GIHF aims to address these challenges through the transparent sharing of data and knowledge and the formation of international research networks.

The Research Center for the Promotion of Hydrogen Energy Society at Tokyo Metropolitan University is promoting research activities toward the realization of a society utilizing hydrogen energy. Going forward, we will collaborate with GIHF through participation in international conferences and workshops organized or supported by GIHF, research exchanges with overseas universities and research institutions, and the development of student and young researcher talent. Furthermore, using this participation in GIHF as an opportunity, we will further expand our collaboration with research institutions both domestically and internationally, based in Tokyo, to return research results in the hydrogen and fuel cell fields to society, and to further promote educational and research activities toward the realization of a decarbonized society.
