Ceres launches Ceres Endura solid-oxide stack platform

Ceres has launched Ceres Endura, a solid-oxide stack platform for onsite power and hydrogen applications targeting data centers and other energy-intensive uses.

 

The platform is intended to give partners access to both the power and hydrogen markets from a single production facility. It is designed to operate on natural gas and to support hydrogen and other low-carbon fuels.

 

Ceres said systems can be installed and commissioned in months rather than years, avoiding longer lead times linked to grid upgrades and conventional infrastructure. The platform also supports high-voltage DC architectures up to 800 V and beyond, aligned with modern data center standards and enabling fast load response from a compact footprint.

 

Using steel-supported cells, Ceres Endura operates at 450–630°C, compared with high-temperature solid oxide, according to the company. Ceres said the lower operating temperature allows the use of widely available, cost-effective, and recyclable materials, lowers overall fuel cell system costs by around one-third, and reduces supply-chain risk. The company also stated a five-year stack life and said the design supports gigawatt-scale manufacturing across power and hydrogen.

 

For power generation, Ceres said Endura delivers more than 65% electrical efficiency on natural gas and more than 90% total efficiency in combined heat and power applications. The company added that the platform is developed for rapid load following, emergency stops, and rapid power and thermal cycles.

 

For hydrogen production, Ceres said Endura achieves around 30% higher efficiency than conventional low-temperature electrolysis when integrated with heat from industrial applications. Ceres added that it supports partners through its business model and factory blueprint, enabling local manufacturing, access to national incentives, and exports to global markets.
