Indian electrolyser maker HYDGEN has inaugurated a 20MW annual production facility in Ganjimutt, Mangaluru, and unveiled its 250kW AEM and PEM electrolyser systems, with the company reporting more than 20 projects completed across India, Singapore and Thailand in the past 12 months.

The facility brings R&D, membrane and catalyst development, stack manufacturing, system assembly and testing under one roof, targeting industrial users in sectors including lab-grown diamonds, specialty chemicals, pharmaceuticals and semiconductors.

HYDGEN opened its new electrolyser manufacturing facility in Ganjimutt, Mangaluru, on October 15 during Innovation Day 2026, with Member of Parliament Captain Brijesh Chowta and Mangaluru City North MLA Dr Y. Bharath Shetty inaugurating the site and unveiling the company's latest products.

The facility has an annual production capacity of 20MW. HYDGEN used the event to launch two new electrolyser models — a 250kW Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) unit and a 250kW Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) unit — both designed, assembled and tested in Mangaluru. The facility brings R&D, membrane and catalyst development, stack manufacturing, system assembly and testing under one roof.

HYDGEN chairman Michael Gryseels said the event was intended to encourage technical discussion and new partnerships.

The programme included a keynote from Dr Ashish Lele, Director of CSIR–National Chemical Laboratory in Pune, on the transition of hydrogen technologies from laboratory research to commercial applications. Expert sessions covered scaling membrane electrolysers from pilot units to multi-megawatt plants, the case for on-site industrial hydrogen production, and financing strategies to reduce hydrogen costs.

HYDGEN's systems target industries where consistent, high-purity hydrogen supply is critical. HYDGEN says a significant share of its electrolyser units has been supplied to diamond manufacturers in Surat, Gujarat — a major centre for India's lab-grown diamond sector. The company also serves specialty chemicals, pharmaceutical and semiconductor manufacturers.

Over the past 12 months, HYDGEN says it has executed more than 20 projects across India, Singapore and Thailand, recording sales exceeding USD 1 million [$1 million]. HYDGEN says the new facility will support larger systems and development of a local component supplier network for domestic and export markets.
