Hydrogenera has secured a €655,830 project grant to develop and validate an integrated hydrogen energy system for industrial use.
Working with Sofia University, we will develop H₂B³OX, a modular system connecting hydrogen production, metal hydride storage, compression and flexible energy use through intelligent controls.
The aim is to make better use of surplus renewable electricity. Hydrogen produced on site will be stored for later use, with options to generate electricity through a fuel cell, supply compressed hydrogen or support industrial processes through blending with natural gas.
Sofia University will contribute materials research and laboratory expertise. Hydrogenera will lead the engineering integration and industrial design.
The demonstration system will be tested under real operating conditions to support further development and commercialisation.
The project is co-funded by the European Union, through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), and the Republic of Bulgaria, through its national budget, under the Research, Innovation and Digitalisation for Smart Transformation Programme 2021–2027.
The programme is administered by the European Funds for Competitiveness Executive Agency, acting as the Managing Authority, under the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Transformation of the Republic of Bulgaria.
